HONOUR COMISSION His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic, AnÃbal Cavaco Silva, after receiving João Lagos in a private audience at the Belém Palace - accepted the invitation by the businessman to be preside the Honour Comission of the Lisbon Stopover Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012. For the first time in its history, the mythical race of circumnavigation will add Portugal on its course and it will be one of the mandatory stops, in an event that promises to liven up Lisbon between May 31 and June 10, 2012. On leaving the hearing, João Lagos highlight the fact that the Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012 "is an event that is not limited only in sports, registering economic impacts over 50 million euros. Otherwise, the race also have a huge media impact, serving once again an excellent vehicle for the promotion of Portugal around the world." |
